12/29/2004: "In which I rant about my undergarments"
So, I think it's gonna be one of THOSE days. You know the ones.
Despite doing three loads of laundry yesterday, I can't find my favorite bra, or my next favorite bra, or my next favorite bra after that. All I can think is that some cruel bastard snuck in and hid my bras. (Damn you, bra hiding bastard, whoever you are!)
You know what this means, don't you?, I have to wear the backup bra, because going braless is SO not an option.
And the backup bra... SQUEAKS!
The hell?!
Now I'm definitely an underwire girl. And I should say a prayer of thanks every day to Howard Hughes or whoever it was that invented the underwire because seriously, I couldn't get along without em! But honestly, there's nothing more annoying in the world than a squeaky bra.
Said bra is otherwise fine, it fits, it's comfy, it's purple for heaven's sake...my favorite color! But damn, the underwire moves around against the fabric and squeaks. So when I walk around, my bra will invariably make a creaky sound like the tin man in the wizard of oz. Which, of course will make me think to myself ..."oil can.. oil can"
(although you have to sort of mutter it out the side of your mouth to get the full effect of the tin man voice bit.)
It's a squeaky bra kind of day, this can only mean that worse things are ahead.
Such as my sister, messaging me to ask a very asinine detailed question about Greg Brady and the Brady Bunch. She asked me about when the Bradys went to Hawaii, and Greg entered the surfing contest, and how Greg learned to surf in the suburbs. I told her that Greg probably took the bus from the Valley to the beach in the days before he bought the caveat emptor car, duh! Really, how could I make this stuff up?
Knitting? you want KNITTING content?? Well okay. Here are my works in progress, try to contain your joy and amazement until the end, please!
Here are the peerie socks I told you about the other day. Inspiration and peerie patterns came from this site. I told you they had sort of a patriotic thing going on. The yarn is awesome though, vintage thrift store sock wool, and it has a really nice hand. Pattern is a basic toe-up short row sock, made up as I go along.
I also started Cozy from the fall issue of Knitty. This one is done in a purpley-fuschia shade of Plymouth Galway Colornep. not unlike the purple of the squeaky bra, come to think of it. This is a great lace pattern amd despite my lack of much progress, it does knit up fairly quickly! I just need to give it some quality time!
I definitely have a little post-Christmas ennui going on. It's all I can do not to crawl back into bed and hibernate until New Year's Day. I guess I'd better go make some strong coffee and knit a bit to pull me out of this funk!
Love y'all! Back Soon! *mwah*
