Cabin Fever!
Thank you all for your comments, emails and phone calls over the past few days. It's meant a lot to me to hear from people who are concerned about us! There is still a LOT of high water out there and we're pretty much stuck here.
Things could be a much worse. I consider us very lucky compared to some in our area. The house, cars and trailer all avoided serious flooding. We have power and internet (obviously) and we've had a generous amount of lazing around time here! We've been amusing ourselves with knitting, reading, surfing the web, watching some dvd's...etc.
The Emergency management folks have termed this "Sheltering In Place"...a kinder euphemism for "Stay the hell home, y'all!"
Let it not be said that we can't take a suggestion!
Despite all this, I'm really hoping to get out a bit tomorrow, at least for a walk. Maybe I'll have some pics to share too! I fear it'll be another couple of days before the water recedes and I can drive anywhere, but you never know.
After all the excitement of the last several days, any New Year festivities sort of got lost in the shuffle. I went to bed at 9:30 and was awakened at midnight by firecrackers from the kids next door.
Despite our lack of celebration, I'm glad to see the beginning of a new year.
Best wishes for 2006!
