Morning Sky

Happy Weekend Y'all! I have a busy one coming up with client meetings scattered throughout the weekend and the Knit-Out with the Bay Area knitbloggers in Oakland tomorrow!
Back with pics soon!
Miscellaneous midwinter rambling
Well Hi Y'all, and a special hi to "MOM" Who found my blog and considers it her very own soap opera! Everybody wave to Mom! (Well, she's the mama of my best friend and my mom by association anyhow! Hee!)
I promise to spare you all any pictures of the flood cleanup. There is such a thing as TOO much information, and I doubt anyone would relish the images of all my nasty, waterlogged crap sitting out at the curb, it's depressing. Although it seems to be the "done" thing in my neighborhood these days. Everywhere you look, there are piles of destroyed belongings sitting in huge piles on the street, waiting for the convict work crews from the county to come and take it away. What an awful time of it those guys must be having!
(I shall avoid any urges I have to be nice and bake cookies for the work crews or anything like that. I hope they get time off their assorted sentences for hazardous duty or something like that!)
And... I'm editing this later to say that if you are grateful I did not post any pics, you should be doubly grateful that those pics were not smell-o-vision. Because oh my GAWD the mud and slime and debris stinks to high heaven. It's nasssssssty! I don't even want to think about what kind of gross stuff was floating around in that water. I'm very glad I'm already on antibiotics!
And, since I'm airing my dirty laundry, so to speak... my Christmas trees are still up (!!!) They've been here so long they've become invisible. You know what I mean, when you avoid something so long, the denial takes over your brain and you no longer notice it.
Baby steps, y'all, the flood crap has to be dealt with first. THEN the trees. Hopefully they'll be down before Valentine's Day!
(I love Valentine's Day though, and it's quite possible the silver aluminum tree might stay up and become a Valentine Shrub!)
Anyhow, I am feeling much better and I thank everyone for their get well wishes and concern. Antibiotics are a good thing sometimes! I've been back to work and the land of the living and everything!
We are looking forward to brighter days ahead!

This is sometimes a knitting blog, y'know! (although it hasn't seemed like one lately!)
As the late, great Elizabeth Zimmerman advised, I have been knitting on with confidence through all crises!
The first Redwood Forest sock is almost complete, just a couple more inches of ribbing to go.
As you can see by the pictures, I'm one of those who alternates sock knitting between pairs. I still have a Star Gazer Lily sock to knit before starting on the second Redwood Forest. It's my goal to have both these pairs completed in January. Guess I'd better get cracking!

To continue with the sock madness... I have some more sock yarn (and new needles, although they are a little long for my taste!) waiting to be knit.
I loved the springy colors of this yarn. I need some happy colored knitting. It's just been so grey and gloomy here!

Well, coffee break is over and it's time for me to go back out to play in the mud. Back soon!

The awful, terrible, no good, very bad week.
What I've been doing this week,

Not bad knitting for someone on drugs though, eh? This is the Redwood Forest colorway from Knitpicks, and a basic toe-up mindless sock. I may be able to knit on drugs but patterns?? texture?? nahhhh!
After the flooding and the storms and living on adrenaline and little sleep for days on end, I managed to come down with a nasty case of strep throat (and double ear infections, as if the strep wasn't enough fun!)
On Tuesday, we smelled gas, and wondering if our propane tank or pipes had suffered damage in the floods, we had to deal with the propane company and trying to get them out for a visit. (wondering if we were going to be blown sky high in the meantime! And not in a good way either...)
It turns out that they had mis-read (??) the gauge on the tank, which they have the responsibility of filling, and the tank was empty. I guess it really smells when it runs out. Peeeyew!
Crisis averted, we now have propane again!
On Wednesday, I also had a lovely surprise from my bank in the form of an error, and WHOOPS.. all the charges you've made in the last little while with your ATM card were DOUBLE charged and it'll take a couple days to straighten out. (With my rent check hanging out there somwhere!)
We hope this won't... you know, wreak HAVOC with your account or anything. Aaaargghhh!
Bank fuckers.
I'm also facing the nasty messy, sodden clean up of some of the flooded stuff around in my yard and storage area. I'm so not looking forward to it. I'm being a bit Scarlett O'Hara on that one. I'll think about it tomorrow.. lalalalalalala.
And.... to add to the fun, not once but TWICE in the last several days, my phone lines, (after y'know... flooding and all) have decided to CALL 911 all by themselves (WTF?)
The antics of the possessed phone lines have prompted late night/early morning pounding upon my door by some very enthusiastic members of our local Sheriff's department. *sigh* Why can't my phone lines ever be possessed during the day?? nooooo. Too easy!
I'm sure that this will all pass soon and I'll be back to my occasionally cheery self.
Amen.
