Testing
Testing out the new blog stuff, updated a few blogs in my sidebar. Go visit the fabulous Inky! She and I have known each other online for several years, before blogs, even! We have yet to meet in person though! Something I hope to remedy soon!
And, update of the day, The Tooth Fairy will be visiting tonight. The boychild has been doing a little tooth self-extraction this afternoon. ewwww! Better out than dangling by a thread though! Not many things gross this mom out but that's one of them!
Back soon!

Housekeeping

The comment spammers have realllly been on my ass lately. As a result, only the most recent entry will have the comment feature enabled. I know y'all don't want Ci*lis, or P*nis Enlargement, or Free P*rn or online p*ker. (and yeah I put the asterisks in so I don't get search hits for those very terms! lol!)
Well, maybe some of you DO want that stuff, but anyhow, if you do want those things, I'm sure you wouldn't be all "Hey... I know! Let's look in Christine's BLOG COMMENTS for p*nis enhancement info!"
Because truly, if you were doing that you'd have much greater problems than a small winky. I'm just sayin.
Anyhow folks, comments only enabled in the current entry, mmkay? I may actually have to change the blog software I use, because dear Graymatter has been obsolete for a while now. I like that I can do my own coding in it though. A change is probably going to be happening somewhere down the road with nifty verification words and rss feeds and all the stuff that the cool kids have, once I get my tuchus in gear.
So, it's Friday, yippeeeee! A three day weekend at that! I have a slow weekend work-wise, which probably means a trip to Ikea for new bunk beds for the children. I'm not looking forward to the "some assembly required" part of this adventure, but the kids have been BEGGING me for bunk beds for a while now. So much for my dreams of a leisurely weekend of quilting! I did manage to get my fabric prepped for cutting, and I bought a new rotary cutter and blades, so at some point I might actually get some cutting done.
In knitting news, I'm still plugging along on the second of the crazy stripey socks. I'm just turning the heel and then it will be smooth sailing. My goal of two pairs of socks a month is still lingering on the horizon somewhere. In reality I think I'm on a pretty steady pace of 3.5 socks a month, given my current rate of knitting.
Today is the day I cook the hot lunch at my children's school. The school is so small there's no cafeteria and so hot lunch is a once a month occurrence and very much anticipated by the kids. I'm looking forward to going to the beach for some knitting after lunch is finished, but before the children get out of school. Ahhhhhh!
I also hope to take my ABC-Along pictures for the letter "D" at some point today. we'll see if the weather cooperates!
Happy Friday Y'all! *mwah*

Valentine Hearts, Flowers, and Candy!
So yes, we have a high level of Valentine's Day activity around here. Now that I'm not a "retail" florist any more, I actually enjoy the holiday! We do make a big deal of it.

Here is a table in the corner of the living room with most of the family valentines. The little photo tree has some valentines I clipped out of the Mary Engelbreit magazine this month. So cute.

Also in this corner, a heart shaped ceramic box that my mother painted, a small antique heart shaped dish sent to me by a friend. This little dish came from England, went to Malta and Australia with her and then she sent it to me just before my wedding. In the background is a vintage sewing box with a heart themed print. The lamp was a $2 flea market find several years ago and I just adore it.

My hubby had roses sent to me, they are just gorgeous!

I picked these wild calla lilies the other day and they are on our dining table with some plum branches from the trees in our yard.

I made some Valentine's cards on the spur of the moment to give to the girls that I work with at the catering company, since I had an event yesterday. Several of them told me that the valentine I gave them was the ONLY valentine they received this year. (I think I need to have a discussion with some of their husbands!)
And yes, there was candy involved in our day! But.. my best gift of the day was eye candy. The season 4 dvd set of my favorite tv show... 24!
Wooohooo!
And since this is a knitting blog (sometimes) ... let me say that I have been knitting. No Olympic knitting, just socks. And speaking of socks...
PLEASE HELP ME FIND THIS YARN!!
I'm going to put out a public plea, which I have never done before! If ANYONE has or knows of a local yarn store that has Trekking sock yarn, colorway 126 I will be pleased to make some kind of a deal.
It's unhealthy how much I would like to get my hands on some of this. It's often referred to as the "neopolitan" color way. Isn't it gorgeous!?

I'm ashamed to say that with my new AT&T service with unlimited long distance (hee!) I've been calling ALL over the country looking for this yarn to no avail! If anyone has any that you'd trade for, or knows of a LYS that would ship to me. I'll make you very very happy! Promise!
Back soon. I'm actually thinking of starting on a new quilt today, we'll see how much I get done! :)
