Rainy Day Rambling
Sporadic posting lately, I know, yadda yadda... I'd rather have a few postings with something halfway interesting than a whole lotta nothing.
Now THIS deserves a photo. The lilacs are blooming! My apologies to those of you who are still having winter where you live (Bethany, Elizabeth, Vicki) but I couldn't resist sharing this!

Are we sensing a color theme here (non-pink, I might add.. although that will be changing soon, I promise!)
These periwinkle vines (vinca) are rampant around here and grow wild. They are cheery though, which is more than I can say for a lot of weeds!

I finished a sock today. I've been knitting sloooowly this month. I started a few other projects and ripped them out, I have another sock almost finished but I decided that I want another contrast yarn for the heels and I have to wait until I get in to "town" to the yarn shop to buy some in the right color.
Anyhow, this sock is the tried and true Knitty Broadripple pattern, which has been knit by so many. (I converted the pattern to a toe-up sock with a short-row heel and a picot bind off for anyone who cares about the specs!)
The yarn is Elann Esprit, which I have had in my stash a loooong time. I also have enough for two more pairs after this one so you know you'll be seeing more Broadripples around here!

And last but certainly not least... My daughter and her best friend were named students of the month for their entire school district. Wooohoo! Here they are with their awards.
One of their huge accomplishments has been spearheading the local fundraising efforts for their sister school in Slidell, LA. Which was badly damaged in hurricane Katrina. The children at our little school of 40 students managed to raise just over $2000 by collectiing spare change from community members. The funds that our students raised were matched by a local Rotary club and delivered directly to the school in Louisiana by one of the Rotary members. As you may imagine, we are very proud of our kids!
Well, that's the news fit to print around here, Happy Friday y'all! Back soon! *mwah*
