A Day of Rest

I am experiencing a very quiet day here at Chez Christine. My hubby has gone to take his sons to the airport in San Francisco. It is rather a sad day for him, as it always is when they have to go back to Virginia. He gets empty-nest feelings whenever they have to leave. We did have a good visit and I hope they enjoyed being here. Things around here feel so still after being so bustling these last several weeks.
It is, however, a very good day for doing nothing at all. I worked a wedding yesterday in Napa where the temperature at the wedding site was a rather (too) balmy 114 degrees. Catering in that sort of weather is as unpleasant as it gets, and I was very grateful to be done with that particular event. Although, I must say, driving home with the windows down at midnight was rather pleasant. It had cooled off to about 75 by that time and it seemed blissfully cool. As much as i cannot tolerate hot days, i do so enjoy warm, sultry evenings! Ahhh!
Today, I have been lounging around (mostly in bed) with the air conditioner humming happily along. My sewing and knitting projects sit in various stages of disarray and completion, the house is in need of a good cleaning. There is also the perpetual laundry to be done.
I'm declaring it a perfect afternoon to ignore it all and take a nap.
At the moment, I am having a lovely glass of iced tea (with homegrown mint from the mutant mint patch that I planted in a fit of domesticity... those tiny mint plants have now taken over half the neighborhood!)
I am listening to Corrine Bailey Rae on my computer (where did my MP3 player get off to?)
I adore her voice. This is perfect music for a lazy Sunday. Go check her out when you get a chance!
After my nap, I might venture forth to the market and pick up some tomatoes for dinner. A tomato sandwich sounds pretty damn good. I think I'll declare a temprary moratorium on cooking as well, it's just that sort of a day!
I'm sure I'll get something done tomorrow... or maybe not! :)
Enjoy your Sunday! *mwah*
