More Henna

Here's a pic of a henna design I freehanded on my sister.

I'm having sooooo much fun with henna. I even got my hubby to sit still for a celtic knot design on his arm. My first hand design is starting to fade a little bit after six days. The design will fade from the thin skin on the top of the hand first. The color on my fingers is still going strong.

Now I have to wait a few more days for it to fade some more and then I can use an alpha hydroxy based skin cleanser to remove what's left. I guess I'm a fast exfoliator! I can't wait to do my next design. I'm really contemplating doing a design on my leg tonight. That way I won't be so impatient waiting to change the designs on my hand!

I'll try to take some knitting pics later today, promise! *mwah*

Hi there!

I've been so fed up with the comment spammers and trying to keep up with deleting the nasty ass comments that they leave, that I've just given up on my blog for a bit. I have to go through and delets sooo many comments. I'm not sure WHAT to do about it.

Anyhow, lots has been going on here. I've been knitting, really! I'm on my THIRD Branching Out scarf. If you're reading my blog and you're expecting a holiday gift from me this year, act surprised, willya?! I feel like a scarf knitting machine with this pattern. It works in all sorts of yarn. So far I've done one in bamboo yarn, one in soy silk and the one I'm working on now is in laceweight wool. I also have yarn for two more of them in the yarn the pattern calls for, the Elsebeth Lavold "Silky Wool". I still have a Kiri shawl and a sock on the needles as well. It's been all scarves all the time around here lately!

In non knitting goings-on...the kids and I have been Geocaching a lot. and we hid our own cache out near the ocean. The cache name is Going Coastal
It's nice because it gives us a chance to hike out to check on the cache now and then, and we have lovely views like these

My travel trailer is almost done as well. She still needs new tires and two more pieces of her aluminum trim bolted back on but other than that, she's almost camping-ready! I had a hilarious experience the other day when I actually had to practice towing and driving her, and the dreaded...BACKING UP!
Imagine, if you will... my ex-husband and my current husband, hanging out in the driveway, watching me turn the trailer in very very poor turns around our cul-de-sac. The backing up part was awful, and then the NEIGHBORS decided to come out and heckle me as well. I was more than a little stressed out! I finally managed to back the trailer into our car port (theres only 3" of clearance at one point between the roof vent cover on the trailer and the top of the car port! I was a nervous wreck!) I really needed a drink after that little episode. I'll get the neighbors back for this, mark my words!

I also have a new hobby/obsession that I've been playing with... henna body art! I've been henna-ing anyone who will stand still, and some of them who won't stand still. You know who you are. If my husband looks orange and streaky for a bit, y'all will know why. It's hard to henna a man who runs away. I'm here to tell you!

Anyhow. I tried to do some henna art about five years ago and it was crappy. I had a little kit I bought at the herb shop and the henna wasn't very fresh and it was messy and unpleasant. I recently found some really cool henna pages and I found out how the "real" henna artists work and I was able to get some of the "good stuff" for hennaing and now I can't stop! It goes on as sort of a muddy paste that stains the skin and then you let it dry. The color lasts a couple of weeks depending upon where on the body the henna is applied. Here are a few photos of my hand and my daughter's hand that we hennad on Friday. My sister is coming over today and I'm going to henna her and her hubby and kids. (I need more victims!! muahahaha!)

My hand with the paste off, Henna stain at about 36 hours. Nice and DARK!

After seeing my pics, a friend of my sister wants to have a henna night party! I'm really happy that I'll get some more victims...er.. practice. You know what I mean.

Well, I'm off to nap for a bit before my visitors get here! I'll be back soon! *mwah*
