Thank You!!
Thank you all for the kind comments about my Kiri shawl! I'm going to wear her today when we go to see my daughter compete in the county spelling bee (She's made it through her school bee and district bee with flying colors! yay! or would that be BZZZZZZZZ!)
Although I had envisioned this shawl as gracefully slung around my person in an oh-so-casual way to compliment nearly everything I own, it's been kind of hard to decide what to wear this with! (final vote for today, denim!) Not to mention I do look a bit, uh... dumpy and matronly in it! I just have that kind of body, there's no getting around it. I don't care though. I'm still going to wear it and pretend I'm a swan. I'll even put on makeup and stuff today. And even though I DESPISE! really don't care for my picture being taken, I'll get some pics today. Really! I'll comb the sasquatch hair and everything! All for you, my dear readers!
Laura asked me about the points on my shawl, and that's just the way it happened to block out. The yarn is super elastic though (for wool anyhow) which is probably why my points look way more pointy than the original Kiri pattern. It's got kind of a weird prehistoric reptile vibe going on with the points. I like it.
Off to the BEE! Keep your fingers crossed for the girlchild! (and her mama in the audience having a breakdown! It's sooooo nerve wracking!!)

Blocking!

Well, Kiri was not quite done in time for my anniversary, but she's finished nonetheless. Everything but the drying. Whew!
I wanted to make this one a bit bigger than my first Kiri shawl. Clearly my spatial retardedness has shown itself in this project because this girl blocks out to 48" long from the center back to the center bottom point, and 96" wide. No wonder it took me FOREVER! That's big, really really big. Bigger than I expected. (Worry not, though. I'm only a fraction of an inch shy of 5'10" and hardly a wee whisp of a thing so proportionately, this shawl will be just fine!)

I had to move furniture to make a space big enough to block it all out. I ran out of pins, ran out of sheet at the ends (twin size, lengthwise) and very nearly ran out of patience, but hallelujah she's done! Won't you all be glad to quit hearing about her now?! Hee!
Why the color is so funky in that second pic is beyond me. I'll have some action shots of the shawl in natural light tomorrow!
The most wonderful thing? It goes soooo well with the lovely Tanzanite bracelet that my hubby surprised me with for our anniversary yesterday, he's the best!!
Back soon! *mwah*

Almost done!
We here at Christine Rambles are on a "Finished Object Watch"!
Okay, so it doesn't have all the drama of, say, the "Verdict Watch" they always seem to have on Court TV when a big trial is about to be completed. The much lamented Kiri shawl should be finished very soon. And believe me, in some ways this has been a BIG trial for me!
To add insult to injury, I have to go wind another 900 yard laceweight hank into a ball so I can finish the last few rows and the cast-off! It's fighting me to the bitter end, but I shall prevail!
Back soon! *mwah* This may be an anniversary shawl yet!

Happy Halloween!
It's been SUCH a busy weekend! I don't have any pictures from the tea party ready to post yet, but here are a few photos from yesterday's trip to the pumpkin patch!

The creatures showing their true personalities! (note the boy's new glasses in this pic, he's so cute!)

The girlies wanted their picture taken in the flowers. They look so sweet, but don't be fooled!

Auntie Amber and the girls.

Jack has a wheelbarrow and he's not afraid to use it. Unfortunately I put my camera away before... THE CRASH!

Any party that has a chocolate fountain and a caramel fountain to dip things in is okay by me! Do I have a sugar hangover today? You bet!

And, just because I can... here's the funniest halloween card EVER! BWAH!!
Happy Halloween, Y'all!
