Gratitude

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Today is going to be a great day! Hubby and I are staying home for Thanksgiving and cooking a big meal just for the two of us. My kids alternate holidays every year with us and with their dad. They are with their dad this year for Thanksgiving and with us for Christmas. It works out pretty well and I host a big family get together for whichever holidays the kids have with us. This means that we just have to cook and eat and laze around in our jammies today and Christmas will be our "big" family holiday.

I have so much to be thankful for. My wonderful family and all my friends and good health! (and yarn and chocolate and coffee... hee!)

A few days ago, the kids and I put up a "Thanksgiving Tree" on a whim. This is my vintage aluminum Christmas tree all decorated up for Thanksgiving. We cut out paper leaves and all the family members wrote what we are thankful for on all the leaves. Some of the things that the kids wrote are truly sweet.

Of course, a Thanksgiving Tree has to have a turkey on the top branch!

I've been such a bad blogger this week. Since getting back from Vegas, I haven't done much, worth blogging about. I've mostly been getting caught up on sleep, getting my house cleaned up a bit (not too much, mind you!)
I've also been working on my holiday "stealth" knitting. I have a LOT of projects on the needles right now! Progress is pretty steady, nothing like a deadline to get things going!

This is what I'm working on, and my progress so far -

1 pair gift socks - 1 sock done, second sock done almost to the heel
1 pair Fuzzy Feet slippers - 1 knitted, one just past the heel, neither felted
Kid Hats, simple ribbing and stockinette - 1 completed, 1 on the needles, just at the bottom ribbing.
Christmas stockings - 2 of 4 completed
Branching Out Scarves - 2.75 of 3 completed

I't's been an amazing week mail-wise, lots of little goodie packages! Thank you soooo much to everyone who has sent me goodies this week, and for all the birthday wishes last week!! I'm very grateful!

I've been getting some amazing stitch markers from the Switch Marker swap. So far I've gotten markers from Janet, Cath
Stacy and Beth. The markers are all soo beautiful! Some of them are already on my many knitting projects, but I'll round them all up and take photos of them soon!

My own markers are done and will be on their way on Monday. They will be a few days late, but close enough to the suggested mailing date that I don't feel too bad!
Here's a pic of them! I actually got the soldering iron out and soldered up the jump rings that the beads are attached to. Boy my soldering skills are rusty! I hope my marker pals like their markers!

I also got a lovely little Wisconsin souvenir plate and cup from Vicki, as a prize I won in her blog contest, they are just darling. I'll get a pic of all the plates as soon as I get them hung up in the trailer!

I'm off to have coffee and get cooking. I can't wait for the smell of Thanksgiving to fill the house! Yummy!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! *mwah*
